DHBlog007 · An introduction by Robert Sharp
The Dorset Heath Newsletter is changing. Instead of being a "newsletter" published at regular/random intervals, read and then forgotten, Dorset Heath is becoming a blog with articles being regularly posted about everything from landscape botany to plant identification.

The Dorset Flora Group has existed for over 10 years but much has changed in that time. Engaging with botanists and ecologists across the county to help them improve their botanical skills has never been more important. For that reason, DFG has created:
DFG WhatsApp Group, providing real-time discussion to assist with plant identification and to share botanical information. Contact Jean and Tom Smith to request membership of the group: dorsetflorawhatsapp@gmail.com. When emailing please provide your name, mobile number, general location (e.g. Dorchester) and a brief explanation of why you want to join the group.
DFG Facebook Page, providing information about up-coming events, news snippets and links to botanical items of interest across the internet. See our Facebook page and feel free to follow or like it.
Dorset Heath Blog, providing more detailed articles about botany relevant to Dorset, event reports, opinion pieces, etc. You are reading it now, by the way.
At this stage, the blog is in beta – a trial to see how it goes. Unfortunately, this means articles will contain adverts that may be more or less intrusive. Assuming the trial goes okay the blog may be "upgraded" to remove the adverts and adopt a more meaningful web address.
Contributions are invited from everyone – please use the contact form to contact the editor.
